Dear FWC Family and Friends:
There will come a day when we will gather together in person. I keep thinking about the longing that happens each time this week when I’ve resisted wanting to do this Zoom thing. It reminds me of the absence of Christ. He is here, but sort of in a virtual way. We have each other, but there’s something a little off, a little lacking.
Scripture says, “we look in a glass dimly.” I’m feel this to be sure. You might be too. Although Zoom is incomplete and leaves us a little wanting, we still get to gather in his name to glorify him as His Bride, His Body, His Church. More, there is something that happens when we break through the apprehension and meet. I know I felt this last Wednesday.
I was not really wanting to go through the hoops of setting up the computer and the oddity of singing in our living room. It actually turned out to be wonderful. It’s like meeting in mini churches with our families and then sharing it on Zoom. So although I’m experiencing a little trepidation thinking about tomorrow, I know that if we push through the resistance, God’s grace will hopeful make it more than worth it. And if he chooses to let us grow in the longing for him, that’s OK too, because we know there will be a day when we can meet him face-to-face.
Here are the bullet points for tomorrow:
We ARE gathering to worship at 945am pm via Zoom for pre-service prayer;
We ARE gathering to worship at 10am pm via Zoom for our worship service (Zoom.fwcommunity.org);
Please reach out if you have specific needs. We want to be in community as much as possible;
We understand that resources are precious and may be tight. We encourage you to seek the Lord in your tithe and offering. There are many good places that need resource and assistance. We will continue to be the church and therefore, . You may give online @ FWCommunity.org/give;
We are a family, let us continue to be with each other, spreading joy, grace, and expectancy;
Thank you for your longing to know Christ and for walking with him in this season. Thank you for staying the course and for pushing through. You encourage others. It’s important to remember this. The song that’s sticking out to me tonight is Faith Hill’s “There will come a Day.” The reality of sickness is a reminder that sin runs rampant in this world. Our job is to continue to push through and keep our hearts set on his amazing grace.
I look forward to worshiping with you tomorrow.
Peace,
Brad
It’s not easy trying to understand
How the world can be so cold, stealing the souls of man
Cloudy skies rain down on all your dreams
You wrestle with the fear and doubt
Sometimes it’s hard but you gotta believe
There’s a better place, where our Father waits
And every tear He’ll wipe away
The darkness will be gone, the weak shall be strong
Hold on to your faith
There will come a day, there will come a day
Wars are raging, lives are scattered
Innocence is lost, and hopes are shattered
The old are forgotten, the children are forsaken
In this world we’re living in
Is there anything sacred?
There will come a day, there will come a day
The song will ring out, down those golden streets
The voices of earth with the angels will sing
Every knee will bow, sin will have no trace
In the glory of His amazing grace
Every knee will bow, sin will have no trace
In the glory of His amazing grace
There will come a day, there will come a day
Oooh there will come a day
I know there’s coming a day, coming a day
