We get to partner with our host and neighboring churches to care for our neighbors. Right now it’s in the form of MILK! That’s right – milk. Please consider bringing a gallon of milk to church on Sunday. Here is a note from the Community Development Director with more details.
“THE POVERTY OF THE WORLD IT’S OUT OF OUR REACH, BUT THE POVERTY OF OUR LATINO COMMUNITY OF THE WESTSIDE OF COSTA MESA, IT’S AROUND THE CORNER”
Dear Churches, Companies and Organizations from the Westside of Costa Mesa.
My name is Olga Parra, I am part of the Community and member of Iglesia Harbor. I’ve been running the Community Development program of my church for almost 10 years.
Due to the Pandemic, a lot of our neighbors have lost their jobs, and those who didn’t, are getting infected due to the fact that we Latinos are not in the best health, we are essentials workers, several families live in one apartment and we can not have any kind of help to pay our bills.
I’m reaching out to you for the reason that our kids are lacking of the most basic needs, MILK!
My Church has been getting boxes of produce every week, but we are not getting milk for the families.
I did a survey among the people I’m serving weekly to see how much milk they use every week. The average per family was 2 gallons per week, but there are several with 5 kids or more, those families can use between 5 to 8 gallons a week. Even if they get any milk from WIC, without a job they can’t meet that need.
My church Iglesia Harbor is donating 100 gallons per week. How many could you donate weekly?
We need milk for 450 families. I’ll leave it in your heart and if that’s something you want to do, let me know. Thank You!!
Sincerely
Olga Parra
